Where is the best place to find developers in Europe?

I spent many hours on research and I have no doubt that Europe is one of the most popular places to look for developers. In comparison with the USA or China, they are much lower hourly rate and at the same time they are often better qualified.

However, the problem is that there is a huge demand for programmers’ services on the market, which is why there is a shortage of hands to work. Poland is coping quite well with this difficult trend. This country provides regularly trained experts and the market potential is growing every year.

The IT market situation in Europe

A significant shortage of programmers in Europe and the world is observed. This trend has been going on for several years. The demand for experienced developers is enormous. Despite the fact that the interest in this profession is increasing every year, the demand exceeds the supply. This can be seen as a very disturbing phenomenon. The report ‘E-skills for job in Europe’ of the European Commission shows that the European IT market has up to 500,000 vacancies. What is even worse is that this indicator will be growing and in 2020 it can reach one million vacancies.

Competition for developers

In the face of such a disturbing market situation, the mutual rivalry of companies for developers is not surprising at all. In order to keep their experienced programmers, they often have to offer promotions, thereby breaking the offers of competition. However, from the developer’s point of view, earnings are not the only issue that determines their choice of working place. The developer also counts benefits such as the possibility of development, interesting projects, lack of dress code and finally, the possibility of remote work. Employee market forces companies to meet all of these expectations. Only when the software house has the best and experienced specialists on board, it can count on both the development and interest of customers.

Poland is a valuable option

Every fourth programmer from Central and Eastern Europe lives in Poland. That statistics shows the country is quite an interesting perspective. Though the developers’ shortage in Poland is a problem as well as in the rest of the world, in comparison to the other countries Poland is coping quite well. At present, the country’s IT services market is expected to reach USD 6.8 million by 2020 with a growth rate of 5.9% CAGR. Moreover, Poland was ranked 9th in Tholon’s Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations 2016 with Krakow and Warsaw as the major centers of the country’s IT development.

So far, I have had an opportunity to repeatedly receive positive feedback from customers who highly appreciate the quality of services provided by Polish software houses. It is not without reason that developers in Poland are recognized as one of the most talented in the world. Currently, there are nearly 150,000 programmers in Poland, and an average of 15,000 people graduate from specialist studies each year.
